As Meninas de Lygia Fagundes Telles é um desses livros seminais dentro da história da literatura brasileira, além de uma narrativa completamente única com mistura entre terceira e primeira pessoa de forma bem elástica, temos aqui a primeira descrição de tortura da ditadura militar brasileira.
Reza a lenda que a Lygia colocou a cena de tortura no meio do livro porque censores não dariam conta de ler o livro inteiro porque achariam muito chato, hahaha, o que faz sentido também o fato da nossa Lião - a guerrilheira - demorar tanto para ter seu ponto de vista narrado, isso em pleno 1973 do governo Médici foi um feito e tanto.
Mas não é só sobre as personalidades e realidades de nossas universitárias brasileiras que Lygia show more narrava com maestria, ela estava bem informada da intelectualidade francesa contemporânea também, dá pra encontrar citações de Lacan e Deleuze e Guattari, inclusive o recém lançado Anti-Édipo.
Enfim, Lygia soube compreender seu tempo como ninguém e isso reverbera em sua literatura lindamente.

Telles was born in Sao Paulo and spent most of her childhood in the small towns of the state. She holds degrees in law and physical education and started publishing in the 1940s when she was very young. Since then, she has published three novels, a half dozen novellas, and seven short-story collections. In 1969 she was awarded the Cannes Prix show more International des Femmes for her short story "Before the Green Masquerade." In 1973, The Girl in the Photograph won her various literary prizes.
