This is one of the first books my oldest son grew up with. It was given to him by my parents. Grandma, Grandpa, and Me is one of my favorite picturebooks for young kids. It is comical, straight to the point, and written from a younger child's perspective. It emphasizes the love that Little Critter has for his grandparents, and the love they have for him. It goes through all the activities that are a daily task for the grandparents, but are fun for Little Critter because he gets to help. The cute quirky moments of little critter sneaking into his grandparents' bed because of some thunder and lightning, to helping milk the cows, to baking the pie, and ending the day flying a kite, it is just too cute. Overall, this is an awesome starter show more book to read to children especially if you have a family day or theme! It would be cute to have the students do a little project that branches from this story for Grandparents Day! show less
This is another story I read in another class. I read "Little Critter" books when I was younger but that was a long time ago and I was not familiar with this particular one. Little Critter visits his grandma and grandpa's farm. While there, he helps his grandma make a pie for a contest. They enter the contest and win for having the most delicious pie. Grandma tells him that the special ingredient was love. Some connections I could make with this was that when I was a kid I spent a lot of time with my grandparents too. I find the story to be a nice reminder for kids to spend time with their loved ones and take advantage of every moment. I think it's relatable for any child who spends time with their extended family or even their show more immediate family or even ones who live on farms or like to bake. show less
I thought this book was an cute family book. It is also a simple book that young children would be able to learn to read. The concept of family is easily understandable. I thought that the characters were well-developed. Even though the characters were little critters instead of people, they were believable. I also liked the illustrations because it had lots of color which was very appealing to me. The theme of this book is family.
This book is about a little critter who goes to visit at his grandparents house. Throughout the book, he is helping his grandma and grandpa with several activities. The book has some humor because he claims to be helping throughout the book and most of the time he is playing while his grandaprents are working. The books ends with them all flying a kite and he claims he had a fun day playing with his grandparents. This is a good book for young children. I am not sure if I would use this in my classroom unless it was lke Grandparents Day or something.
Little Critter is having a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's farm! He's excited—there is so much to see and do. He helps his grandparents milk the cows, pick blueberries, and bake a pie for the contest at the Country Fair. They have many pies in the contest but their pie wins since Little Critter added a secret ingredient.
Little Critter helps his Grandma make a pie to bring to the County Fair. He gets the fresh ingredients together from the farm, and then he makes a bit of a mess when helping Grandma make the pie. With the Grandma's secret ingredient, love, they take home first prize in the pie contest!
Little Critter goes to spend the night with his grandma and grandpa. The next day they all to the county fair. This book would be a great book to read with children when doing a unit on family members.
