Two siblings fighting over food their mother has brought home in a quirky rhyming story. It teaches simple math in a clever way when they split up a pizza equally by slices or cupcakes. A simple yet fun way to get children interested in simple addition and fractions. I love this book because it is exactly like me and my twin brother.
This is a wonderful book that teaches math part-to-whole concepts. Children understand what is a half of DIFFERENT things. A half of a cupcake looks different from a half of 8 cookies. It provides for a deeper understanding of basics of fractions. I loved the illustrations. It is about a brother and a sister who are constantly trying to eat more that the other, despite parents' order to split everything in half. So they have to split pizza, cupcakes, juice, cookies, and clean up the mess afterwords. My kids enjoyed it!
A cute story about a brother and sister who learn to share half of their food with each other and in the process learn a bit of math along the way. The brother and sister need to share equally with pizza, juice, cupcakes, cookies, and cleaning up the mess they made. This story is a fun way to introduce children to math concepts through a creative rhyming story that could be applicable in their lives (if they have siblings).
This book is a wonderful way to incorporate literature into a math lesson and introduce children to the concept of fractions and whole vs. parts. The rhyming words serve to make the story more memorable and easier to understand. After reading the book, students can think of other examples of items that can be split show more in 1/2 - either food or other type of objects - such as paper, crayons, etc. show less

This book teaches students what a half is. I rate this book 3 stars because, although it was informative, it was very repetitive. I like how the author gave many real world examples of how you can divide things into halves. I would recommend this book for students that are fairly new to learning fractions but I would not recommend it for advanced students.

I thought the book would be good for the younger grades, maybe 2nd-4th grade. This book is very educational and teaches kids about the concept of fractions. This book is about 2 siblings splitting up food and chores equally. This book is very relatable to kids with siblings. The book also displays fairness by having the brother and sister get the exact same amount of food as one another.
This is a great rhyming story for children. It is a story about a brother and a sister who simply do not want to share their food with one another. Each time they get into an argument, their dad interrupts and explains to them that they need to split their food in half, which is when the math concept of the book comes into play. A mathematical explanation is given on how to distribute their food evenly.
Second grade is a good age level to read this book to children because that is the age that they are introduced to fractions. Third graders would probably enjoy it as well. This is the perfect book to read to children who are learning about halves and wholes. In addition, it is a good book to read to those learning about sharing.
