Dennis McFarland was born in 1950 and received his B.A. from Brooklyn College. In 1981, he was awarded a Wallace Stegner fellowship. In addition to writing books, McFarland has taught creative writing at Stanford University and has written numerous contributions to such periodicals as Mademoiselle and The New Yorker.
