Katey Tyler is off to see the world. She's been left a considerable inheritance and all she wants to do is travel. She feels an attraction to the captain of her America-to-England voyage, but cuts him off because she doesn't want to get encumbered before she's seen it all. Upon arrival in England, she's SUPER COINCIDENTALLY involved in the kidnapping of that captain's niece, and for a time he suspects her to be involved. Of course, he realizes what an ass he is and offers her exclusive use of his ship to complete her world tour....so he can seduce her, of course. Which, I would think is pretty rape-y, but somehow it kind of works here. Whatever, this whole series is filled with unlikely events and coincidences, and if you haven't become show more okay with that by now, you're either not reading these or hate-reading these. show less
Just a fun read without long sex scenes. Few books where the male lead, Boyd Anderson, falls so infatuatingly in love just watching Katey save a bird. Enjoyed the kidnapping and resulting jail fiasco. Loved Katey with her spirit of righteousness and adventurous excitement. Understood her need to find out about family but the ending surprised me.
I HIGHLY recommend reading this series in order. Lindsey's characters are all distinct and each book builds on the one before it. I'm sad to see it come to end, because I couldn't put this last one down and will miss the Malorys and the Andersons. But I wll admit that I almost gave up on the series because it seemed every-other book was a let-down...because she sets high standards...but it was definitely worth it to finish the series out.
Typical of the Malory/Anderson books from Lindsey. Fun. Fast paced. There's a little less action in this than the majority of the other books. The female lead is basically dense about nearly everything which is sort of a change for Lindsey.
Boyd Anderson, a ship owner with an embarrassing secret, first notices Katey Tyler on the dock in Bridgeport, CT as the ship was preparing to set sail to London. Boyd had begun thinking it was time to settle down and get married and thought Katey might be the kind of woman he'd want. Except she was already married. Or so she said.

This book is part of the Mallory Family series, and Boyd's brother and sister were married to Mallory siblings in earlier books. Chapter one of this story begins at one of the Mallory family's households in London with a notice being delivered to the wrong address. One of the Mallory children has been kidnapped, but because of the mix-up delivering the note, the girl's parents aren't aware of the fact for some show more time. They are, however, quite frantic at her disappearance. Boyd arrives on the scene, still thinking about the woman he met on the dock who travelled to London as a passenger on his ship, and becomes involved in the effort to locate the missing girl. Meanwhile, Katey is travelling through the countryside, returning to London to continue her newly begun world tour, when she hears strange sounds coming from the room next to hers in the inn. Upon investigating, she discovers a girl gagged, bound, and tied to the bedpost. She frees the girl, takes her back to her own room and she learns she (the girl) is a kidnap victim.

Of course, it's obvious that Boyd and Katey, who had been thinking of him as much as he her, will have a chance to meet again. But, due to a series of misunderstandings and misinformations, they remain at odds for quite some time. The rest of the story is quite lively, and includes a night spent in jail, a pirate attack, the discovery of long lost relatives, and an interlude on a deserted island.

Any fan of romance novels, especially those who like historicals, will not want to miss this one. Perhaps a little far-fetched at times, but definitely lots of fun and a very nice ending.

Okay, I'm cheating here, and I don't like them all equally, but I do love the Mallory's. They're all funny. I especially liked "Love Only Once" (the first book), "Gentle Rogue" (my favorite), and "The Magic of You" (where the heroine chases the hero shamelessly).
