Fiction. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:

Lady Irene Wyngate swore she'd never marry, keeping suitors at bay with her caustic tongue. But there was one man she couldn't scare: Gideon, long-lost heir to the Earl of Radbourne. He had been kidnapped as a child and grew up tough on the London streets. And though he had been restored to his family, he was still more at home in gambling dens than stately ballrooms.

Irene isn't attracted to Gideon, or so she says when matchmaker Francesca Haughston asks for her help to civilize him for marriage. After all, he is a true rogue with a dubious past. A handsome rogue, she has to admit, but as she reluctantly begins to yield to love, wicked family secrets come to light...with devastating consequences for the reluctant lovers.

Truly wonderful, touching story, great characters.

Lady Irene Wyngate really should marry. Her brother's wife doesn't like her and she doesn't have enough money to move out. She's sharp-tongued and most of the eligible suitors avoid her.

Gideon, Earl of Radbourne, needs a wife. His relatives think he needs a wife. He's been raised on the streets of London and doesn't fathom all the myriad details of life in the ton. A wife could handle those pesky details for him.

Francesca Haughston, extraordinary matchmaker, comes to the rescue, soothes ruffled feather and arrange matters to perfection. ( )

More of a three and a half than a three, but not quite a four by rounding. I know some people have an issue with the fact that we don't ever get Gideon's POV, but I found it rather refreshing. I've read toooo many hero POVs lately that made me raaaaaaaage. So at the very least, I didn't have to hate him. :)

BUT REALLY THE TRUE STAR FOR ME IS ROCHFORD AND FRANCESCA. GIMME THEIR NOVEL NOW. ( )

Not my favorite by this author, but ok ( )

Irene doesn't want him...at least not that she'll admit. The lost Earl of Radbourne, Gideon raised in the London slums and found by his family as an adult does want her. A compelling story with Francesca Haughston the ultimate matchmaker back to make sure that all turns out as it aught. ( )

Book description
Lady Irene Wyngate has sworn she'll never marry, keeping suitors at bay with her caustic tongue. But there is one man she can't scare: Gideon, long-lost heir to the Earl of Radbourne. He was kidnapped as a child and grew up tough on the London streets. And though he's been restored to his family, he is still more at home in gambling dens than stately ballrooms.

Irene isn't attracted to Gideon, or so she says when matchmaker Francesca Haughston asks for her help to civilize him for marriage. After all, he is a true rogue with a dubious past--a handsome rogue, she has to admit. But as she reluctantly begins to yield to love, wicked family secrets come to light…with devastating consequences for the reluctant lovers.
