So, after reading the book, I see the GR blurb, and it makes sense. Sanders sells his books with sex scenes instead of good storytelling.

This story, about a female cop going under cover, and under the covers, really hit me wrong. Every police character was some sort of sleazeball and on the take in one way or another and the badguys were horrible people as well.

This was a dirty story about dirty people and I did not enjoy it at all.
Not one of my favorite Sanders' novels -- not even close. He just doesn't write female characters very realistically. Rita Sullivan might be what he wishes a woman would be, but I've never known anyone even remotely like her.
Everybody gets conned one way or another.
