"Stories that are bizarre, unusual, odd, astonishing, and often incredible"
  IICANA | Jun 29, 2018 |
I was just randomly browsing through my books on GR when I came across this. Of course, now I know that the "facts" reported by Reader's Digest are mostly fantasy, but this book gave me an introduction to many fascinating things which I had no knowledge of: it also kindled an interest for the bizarre in me.

A nice read if you take it with a pinch of salt.

Fascinated me, as a young kid, with tales of foreign customs, famous disasters, quirky inventions, unsolved mysteries, and, of course, ghosts. ( )

Book description
Preface:

This volume offers an astonishing variety of matter, treatment and tone. For Example "Will the Ice Age Return? (A frightening and real possibility) and Heaven's Artillery ( a story about meteorites are enough to give on chills in a sauna, while Bunga-Bunga (an account of an elaborate hoax) and Everything Has Its Price (a tale of a remarkably pervasiveness gentleman who, among other felonious exploits, sold the Eiffel Tower and rented out the White House) would probably bring a smile to a wooden Indian.
It contains Hard Science, wondrous discoveries, Informed predictions, History's great explorers, charlatans and fakes, UFOS and world clocks are all included in this impressive volume
