This is a nice collection of readable Greek myths in simple language from the author Eric Kimmel. Some tales were familiar to me such as those about Pandora, Icharus, King Midas, and Medusa. Others were delightfully new for me, like Echo, Theseus and Arachne. I appreciate the forward by the author that says myths such as these great relevance in our modern time of tech devices and visual media. He says that many of our stories are still based on these timeless tales.

I read these Greek Myths at bedtime, and I think I could read them to my son during story time. In school, I think sharing these tales with students during history lessons would help add engagement.
Simply stated and short stories from Greek mythology, written in a way that young students can easily understand. Includes beautiful illustrations that are modernized versions of traditional Greek style. Some stories may be over-simplified, but I think it is a wonderful way to introduce Greek mythology in a way that can appeal to a wide range of audiences.
In my opinion, the major strengths of this collection lies both in the retelling of the myths as well as in the illustrations. Each myth is retold in an easy to read, narrative format. Dialogue has also been added to enhance the story and add to the reader's interest. The illustrations are plentiful and bold. Some illustration are small and incorporated around the text, while many are full-page. Overall the words and illustrations work together to create an appealing collection for both young and old readers alike. This book is a great introduction to Greek myth for those who may be unfamiliar with the genre.
A great introduction to Greek mythology that every child should read. Beautifully illustrated.
A great book that retold many great myths in a simplistic way. This is a great book to share with children to make Greek mythology accessible. I focused on the myth of Pandora's Box. I was vaguely familiar with the myth but after reading this story by Kimmel I more thoroughly understood the story and it's lessons.
Fitting illustrations that supplement the myths. This was a great introduction to Greek mythology. I haven't spent much time with Greek mythology, so I can't comment on how accurately it portrays the myths, but it is entertaining. The book begins with Prometheus and keeps moving forward, in what seems to me to be chronological order or close to it. Kimmel does a fine job of keeping the story interesting and simple. My daughter liked listening to the stories and I wanted to read them. This book would be a great introduction to Greek Mythology.
This is a beautifully illustrated and cleverly designed book about the Greek myths that Eric Kimmel has simplified to make each myth easier for young children to understand and follow.
