Once long ago, the Crow Chief would warn the buffaloes that the hunters were coming. People did nor have food and they were hungry. A young man named Falling Star who travels around helping people promises to help bring the buffalo to the hunters. Falling Star chooses a young man to go with him and they wear buffalo skin and they join the heard. Crow Chief does not notice. When the hunters come. Crow Chief warns the other buffalo to run, but one does not, it is Falling Star and is this way he catches the Crow Chief. Falling Star brings Crow Chief back to camp as a prisoner and then the hunters can get all the meat they need. When Crow Chief is released, he is turned black as a punishment and this is why crows are now black.
