DO NOT read this book.

Bravo Bianca – Bravo Samhain Publishing, I fell for your ploy. Browsing through Amazon, I found a copy of Hara’s Legacy and was sucked into the summary. I wish I hadn’t been though. This book was trying to be a sci-fi cock tease and the only of these this world needs are on Joss Whedon’s Firefly. On its own merit, it was like an inexperienced lot lizard, thinking a bunch of truckers running a train on her is foreplay and showing her boobs is worth a ride out of salt lake city…

Hara’s Legacy grabbed my attention, promising a plot-line that is right up my alley. On near future earth, aliens have decided to drop in and make themselves home. In order to makes the planet safe for them, they bombarded the show more planet with Crystalline seeds which vibrate and re-tune the planet to the benefit of their biology, and detriment of human. Some humans are able to survive the planetary reboot.

Those humans who survive often have levels of dormant and active psychic abilities. This novel centers on 3 brothers who have inklings of the alien resettlement and move to the boonies for survival. One brother has a wife, who they have all known since she was a child, so it was apparent from the beginning what part of the story would focus on.

And that is the end of the plot-line. The majority of this book is descriptions of circumcised cocks, vagina’s, clits, sexual positions, squishing noises, wet spots, alien sperm donors, and three brothers humping the same woman repeatedly.

This is an estimate, but out of 256 pages, I would guesstimate that only 60 pages of this book actually mattered.

Marketed as a Futuristic Sci-Fi and “Red Hot”, I assumed it would be more Sci-Fi with some standard adult themes peppered in. No biggie, I have read my share of steamy scenes. Heck, the description of the book from the publisher (here’s the ploy)deftly avoided the nature of the book, hinting at the contents and simply advising “Warning: this title contains explicit sex and ménage à quatre”. It caught my attention and I thought it was sweet to have a scene in the book that warranted forewarning..

Yeah… not sure if a prophetic-seer-fucking-an-empath,-who-is-double-entried-by-a-brother-who-is-psychic,-while-she-sucks-the-cock-of-a-third-brother-who-is-a-telepath-AND-A-Telekinetic for chapter after chapter is considered Sci-Fi by any stretch of the imagination. The uncomfortably long fuck-fest with one brother-spying-on-an-alien-who-wants-a-baby-and-fucks-for-two-days-straight-while-his-brother-psychically-listens-in-taking-notes chapters were unbearable.

The Sci-Fi is limited, the sex is overly saturated, far too detailed, and have the feeling of being written by someone who wishes they were an erotic writer, but never bothered to stop masturbating long enough to find an honest proofreader.

I had actually written a whole review prior to this, but scrapped it all as it was entirely too nice. Here is the best advice I can give, “Unless this book gets completely rewritten to focus more on the plot and less on the male curvature needed to hit a g-spot, don’t bother with it.”

A few special humans are endowed with paranormal abilities, and it is Caleb O’Hara’s gift of precognition that saves his family from certain death when the aliens attack Earth, nearly obliterating the human race. Having moved his brothers and wife to a remote cabin, they make a new home for themselves.

But the lack of female companionship sees Caleb’s brothers growing restless and frustrated, and Caleb knows that life as they know it must change if the family is to stay together – something that must happen if they are to live through the next challenge from the Alvian invaders.

He knows his two brothers love Jane as much as he does. But to keep the family together, he must convince them of show more the new path his visions have dictated they must take in order to survive, no matter their reluctance. To coexist with the coldly clinical Alvian race, the human race must learn to adapt drastically to their changed world, and the O’Haras will lead the way.

It is hard to believe that popular author Bianca D’Arc was first published only 16 months ago! With thirteen published books under her belt that encompass six separate series, she has quickly moved up the ranks of many fans’ must-buy lists, and with very good reason. Not only has Ms. D’Arc proved to be a prolific writer, but she spins yarns of the supernatural, futuristic, and fantasy with such realism that you find yourself completely immersed in her worlds, with no desire to leave.

Her newest series, Resonance Mates, is off to a running start with a fantastic futuristic tale of an apocalyptic Earth struggling to survive in Hara’s Legacy. As with her Dragon Knights saga, this story contains frequent ménage scenes, but they never feel gratuitous, as D’Arc writes them in such a way that the act makes complete sense. Indeed, she makes the reader feel that this is the only way these characters can continue on, and reader acceptance is easily grasped. I’ve often quipped that this author writes the most innocent ménage scenes I have ever seen, but it really is true. Of course, the innocence lies solely in the catalyst for the ménage, the act itself is hotter than hot and will steam the ink right off the pages of the book!

The O’Hara family is a close knit unit, dedicated to each other’s happiness and comfort in the bleak existence that they have been relegated on post-invasion Earth. As the oldest brother, Caleb leads the family, and his visions prove an invaluable asset to his role.

Caleb’s wife, Jane, is the heart of the family, and her empathic powers aid her in assuring the emotional well-being of her men. Having grown up with the three brothers, she has loved them all for many years, and they in turn have loved her.

Justin is the middle brother, and his destiny proves important to the survival of the O’Hara family. His bad boy persona belies the man inside that relishes the concept of family and craves something more in his life. The telekinetic abilities he was born with serve a warrior like him well, but Justin is quick to recognize that there is a time to fight and a time to reason.

The youngest brother, Mick, is the gentlest and the most reserved. As a veterinarian before the invasion, he quickly adapted his medical skills to serve as family doctor, a task which his powerful telepathy assists with time and again.

There is something to love about each of the O’Hara brothers, and it is easy to see why Jane is so enamored of them all. Any woman would be lucky to find her own O’Hara man, much less capture the hearts of all three.

In this reviewer’s opinion, Bianca D’Arc has hit another one out of the ball park with the release of Resonance Mates, Book 1: Hara’s Legacy. Fans will be both overjoyed and somewhat disappointed to learn that this saga will culminate in the fifth book. On one hand, I’m excited that we will learn the fate of these enchanting characters so soon, but I know that I will be disappointed when the series is complete. With only one book currently published, I find myself fervently hoping that there will be opportunity for D’Arc to spin a sub-series out of this one before it is all over.

If you love a great futuristic science fiction tale with plenty of sensual romance and steamy ménage scenes, you will not want to miss Hara’s Legacy!!

Saccharine is the word that comes to mind first after reading this book. These men loved this woman as if she were a goddess. I generally like that sort of thing since romances are fantasies after all but this was just too much. Maybe the thing that set my teeth on edge the most was that she was just absolutely perfect. So much so that she had no real personality. As it was all the men talked or thought about was how much they loved her. Aliens invade the world and we love Jane. I have to knock up an alien but I love Jane. I have learned to be a physician and a vet oh and I love Jane. Look a spaceship is landing we might all die! And btw, we love Jane.

The sci fi story was interesting but there wasn't enough of it. The sex got in the show more way. I like erotic sci fi romances but only if the sex doesn't get in the way of or replace the story which it did here. And the sex scenes were many times very similar. I really think I would have loved the story if more of the struggling to survive the alien attack and aftermath and all were portrayed more extensively. The menage was a logical extension of the author's set up and I would have loved to see it (being a menage fan) but I would have liked it to be more of a more background element. More realistic in that maybe it was more of just one piece of their lives not the all emcompassing element it was here. Maybe I'm just too picky. But this was just too treacly for me to give it more stars. show less
WOW! If you are looking for a relationship-based menage story, then look no further.
The alien attack on planet Earth has resulted in a lack of females. The eldest O'Hara brother, Caleb, reluctantly realizes that if his family is going to survive, they will have to learn to live in this new reality and that means that his wife will become their wife. I truly enjoyed this book as it dealt just as much with the discomfort and guilt of the brothers as with the incredibly hot sex. The contrast of the feelings of each of the brothers as they adjust to their new life was emotionally satisfying. The (lucky, plucky) heroine and her growing relationship with each of the brothers was skillfully handled also. Don't miss this one. I will definately show more get the next in this series. show less
As I said in the first review I wrote for this story the first few chapters are a little slow. This is a world building book and there is quite a bit of information that the author is providing. While each book in this series has its individual group of heroes there is an ongoing story line that flows into each story. This is also science fiction for those that may have a problem with that.

This is a very quick read and the story ends in such a way you want to start the next book as soon as possible. I am glad that I didn’t start reading the books when the each first came out because I would have been beside myself waiting for the next one to come out. This story is about an extraordinary family and their will to survive and thrive show more after an alien invasion destroys humanity and the earth itself. Each of the members of the O’Hara family has some form of psychic ability. This is why they survived the initial bombardment from space. The aliens needed to realign the crystal deposits on earth so they could survive. The aliens view the survivors as little more than animals. It is up to the O'Hara family to show them that there is more to the humans that study subjects.

This is a well thought out story and the Ms. D’Arc does a good job of keeping things simple enough so most can enjoy the story. Her human characters are all likable and she tries to show that the aliens aren’t necessarily cruel they just don’t have the emotion needed to have compassion and understanding.

The O’Hara boys, Caleb, Justin and Mick, have been in love with Jane since she was a very young girl. They have watched her grown up and they have protected her as best as they each could. With the devastation of earth they must now get past the old ways of doing things and share the woman that they each love.

Caleb is the precog on the group. He had a vision of what was going to happen far enough in advance to get his family to the mountains of Canada where they would be safe. The family was able to get the things that they need in order to survive when the bombardment began. Caleb is also Jane’s husband. He took over as head of the family when their parents died and Justin and Mick have followed his lead since. Caleb’s psychic ability is very draining and it is hard on his health and well-being. Caleb is the one that finally realizes that he is going to have to share his wife with his brothers. The cataclysm killed most of the woman so there will be no wives for his brothers. The only way for them to survive is to stick together and show the aliens that humans are not the animals that they think we are.

Justin is the warrior of the family and his strength is telekinesis. He joined the Army and became a member of the Special Forces. Justin is also has the darkest passions of the group. It takes some time for him to come to terms with his needs and what Jane with accept. He is pleased that she is daring and adventurous. Justin is also the one that has a half alien child that will bridge the gap between the aliens and the humans.

Mick is the doctor of the bunch and a strong telepath. Mick was in school working on becoming a vet when Caleb called him home. When he realized the reason he had to come home he stocked on as many books and things as he would need to take care of the animals and family. Mick is the most reserved of the four. He has been hiding his true feelings for a long time and he has the hardest time getting rid of the guilt of taking his brother’s wife as a lover.

Jane is the empath of the group and she is a strong empath. She loves all the brothers and is the most accepting of the group about the change in the status quot. I liked Jane every much.

There is quite a bit going on in this story and it isn’t a really long book. For those that like science fiction and/or menages you will probably enjoy this book.

3.5 Star read for me. I think the book could have been better written and we didn't get enough into the story. I did feel like I got to know all of the characters and liked them all. I will read more of the series and can't wait to get to know Harry when he grows up.
Not in the mood for shallow erotica.
