Although the pictures in this book might appear to be dull-toned and dreary, I really enjoyed this book.

It reminds me of some of the old MGM Christmas cartoons that are designed to teach the same lesson. That lesson is one of service.

The book tells the story of a man who hears that his friends wish they didn't have to do their chores so that they could have the entire day free to celebrate their birthdays.

The man decides to grant that wish by secretly completing everyone's chores early.

The only possible negative part of this story is that the man wakes one day to find that his friends have re-payed the favor. This could create the idea that if you don't get anything in return for your service, it's not valuable or appreciated.

This books show more message should be taught regularly from a very early age. I would suggest introducing this book to children age 2 1/2 and up to probably 8 years old. show less
