The first truly total war, the 'war to end all wars', shocked the world with its scale and brutality. Handig beknopt overzicht, met vrij evenwichtige benadering van aanleiding en gevolgen (verdrag van Versailles als aanloop naar Tweede Wereldoorlog). Knap fotomateriaal. Helaas ontbreken enkele essentiële kaarten van offensieven aan het Westfront.
