This is a good book for introducing young children to the concept of Father's Day or for discussing ideas for celebrating the holiday with slightly older kids. The lift-the-flap illustrations are always popular with young kids and here they work with the text to highlight various mishaps that can be quickly fixed. My toddler class really enjoyed this title and learned more about Father's Day through it. That being said though, the illustrations seemed overly busy to me, in a way that seemed distracting. I'm also not crazy about the Critter family in general, having some reservations about the depictions, namely the very gendered approach (i.e., Little Sister and the mother only ever seem to wear pink and purple).
