El 13 de enero de 2001 un fortísimo terremoto afectó a El Salvador, añadiendo devastación sobre un pueblo habitualmente aquejado de múltiples penurias. Jon Sobrino, testigo directo del suceso, reflexiona a partir de lo que presenció: la miseria, la injusticia, pero también los testimonios de misericordia, solidaridad y santidad propios de una civilización de la pobreza como es la de los pueblos de América Latina. Esta reflexión inicial se ha ampliado para incluir los acontecimientos subsiguientes al 11 de septiembre. ( )
