The most famous ending in the history of the movies was just the beginning... Did Ilsa Lund and Victor Laszlo make it to America? What happened to Rick Blaine and Louis? Will Sam ever play it again? Are Rick and Ilsa reunited? What secret prevents Rick from returning to America? How did Rick meet Sam? How did Ilsa get involved with Victor? From speak-easies and jazz clubs of Prohibition New York to wartime London and Prague, AS TIME GOES BY takes us on a daring journey of adventure, courage and romance. And of course, there will always be Paris. This is NOT a sequel - there never was a novel of Casablanca nor a novelization of the original film script. It's more than the same old story, but still a fight for love and glory, on that you can rely.… (more)

This was a surprisingly good story that stayed true to the original. Many questions left open by the movie were answered here. The ending, if predictable, was satisfying. ( )

You will recognize all the characters from Casablanca. This book takes up from where Rick and Louis walk off into the airport fog as Casablanca ends.It also tries to explain some of the unanswered questions from Casablanca like how did Rick get there and how did his relationship begin with the married Ilsa. Flashbacks to Rick's earlier life are very interesting and the best part of this book. I wont disclose what happens after Casablanca except to say it is a bit of a let down, but then it would be an enormous undertaking to pen a sequel to one of the greatest books/movies of all time ( )

Fun to read and hunt the Easter Eggs (fans of Fringe and Lost will know what I mean) in the book to real life and to the movie. ( )

A very entertaining sequel to Casablanca -- nice extension of the depth of the characters and believable chronology of events before and after the plot shown in the movie. ( )
