Description

President Thomas Jefferson bought the sprawling Louisiana Territory from the French. It was up to the team of Lewsi and Clark to hoist the Stars and Stripes over the distant northwestern frontier and to win an empire with three small boats and forty ragged volunteers. Among them was Francois Rivet - half French and half Pawnee a young man on a quest of his own for a long lost father held captive by the Shoshones.

Took me a while to get through this book, no fault of the author as the story was very well written, more so my in-ability to care much about the main character, Francois Rivet, even to the end, he could not be counted on by his "Patron", William Clark. That said, I did get a little choked up at the farwells and surprised (although I should not have been) by Rivets final decision.
