This is a great text to use to dissolve fear of the unknown. The stigma that bats have is often so negative. Young children have often not been exposed to the positive ways that bats help our earth. Pringle does a beautiful job of explaining the delicate place bats hold in our world. The illustrations are well done, and it is important for children to realize that not all books with illustrations are fictional. ( )

This Laurence Pringle informational text is all about bats. In this piece of children’s literature, students can learn all about bats- from how they eat by fishing from the water and by eating mosquitoes during flight. This text also has vivid imagery by Meryl Henderson that captivates the various species of bats, as if the pictures were captured with a camera.

This is a really good book! I think I enjoyed it so much because I love learning about animals.
This book clears up many of the misconceptions people have about bats. They are actually smart, gentle, and helpful creatures. I loved learning about them and I couldn't put it down until I finished! ( )

Bats! takes a look at bats from all over the world and explains what they eat, and how they help the environment. The author removes some of the myths about bats. The illustrator paints detailed water color pictures of the different types of bats in their natural habitats. ( )
