Vlot geschreven boek dat een mooie schets oplevert van de aanloop naar de slag, het verloop ervan, de hoofdrolspelers en wat erna kwam. Een goede plaatsing ook in de bredere context: het middeleeuwse conflict Frankrijk-Vlaanderen, de macht van de stad Brugge, en de latere opkomst van Gent. Arthur De Bruyne heeft een heel aangename schrijfstijl die ook nu nog overtuigt. ( )
