Eric Carle writes about the importance of eating healthy foods and avoiding junk foods. Children are able to visualize the healthy foods and the connections to making good food choices. There are many colors and a variety of shapes that introduce knew knowledge to young children. Math is also involved because the caterpillar eats more food each time he travels. There are many lesson plans that could be done by using this book. ( )

This is such a classic read that will have little one listening to every single word you read. With it’s colorful picture and silly book organization, young children adore this book, as well as teachers! ( )

Book description
One sunny Sunday, the caterpillar was hatched out of a tiny egg. He was very hungry. On Monday, he ate through one apple; on Tuesday, he ate through three plums--and still he was hungry. When full at last, he made a cocoon around himself and went to sleep, to wake up a few weeks later wonderfully transformed into a butterfly!
