Fascinating as the actual official record of Adm. Yi, the Korean naval hero whose
"dragon boats" are considered the first armored warships. He defeated the Japanese with them in the Imjin War c. 1598, and is still a Korean hero today. I
saw a model of his dragon boat in the Korean pavilion at the Montreal Expo, and later visited his memorial in Korea on a national holiday when Korean Boy Scouts were offering incense to his memory. However, the record itself is very straightforward and unglamorous, with a llot of reports like "Today it rained." ( )
