This book was kind of sad to me with a slightly happier ending. The time period was the Civil War and the Mennonites were forced to move North which was Canada. This would be a good book to talk about Mennonites and to talk about moving away from home and leaving family(grandmother) to meet new people.

Selina is a Menonite girl who lives with her parents and grandmother, one day her grandmother makes her a special quilt and her parents, baby sibling and her move to Canada because a war is coming, but they have to leave grandmother back in the states. When she gets to her aunt's her cousins have a quilt that has some of grandmothers dress and she feels at home. This is good to use for students who are learning about different kinds of religions and people. It is also good to use for a history lesson, since there are some historical facts in the book.
Selina's grandmother made a special quilt for her. Through the rough times from the Civil War out break their family had to move away, and Selina was sad. Her Grandmother made her a quilt. Different pieces of the quilt were made on the quilt from each of the person she loved such as her mother, father and so on.
