This was a fantastic Bible story picture book. I have pretty high standards for Bible stories I read to my children, because so many are altered or watered down, but I thought this did a great job of sticking to the Bible narrative while also diving a little more deeply into how hard it would have been for Miriam and her mother to leave Moses in the Nile and entrust him to the Lord.
The illustrations are lovely, and the back matter also includes sheet music for the song that Miriam and her show more mother sing to baby Moses, which is helpful for readers like me, who have trouble making up tunes for songs in picture books.
I would highly recommend this book, especially for kids ages 4-7 or so. show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Cute enough, but a little cliched and a little awkward. For example, the girl is in 6th grade, with only one parent, and she doesn't know how to do laundry yet? And I am so tired of parents who won't talk about the dead one with the child. Yes, dad, you're grieving, but that's no excuse to shut your also grieving daughter out of your heart. Get therapy if you need it. This family prays so I would think they could ask their pastor/minister for help.
What a delightful book! " Hiding Baby Moses" tells the well-known story of how Moses was raised in Pharaoh's household, but the colorful, emotion-invoking illustrations and the lyrical words from Psalm 27 will be a book little ones in Sunday school or at home will enjoy again and again.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.A lyrical retelling of baby Moses: A baby boy is hidden in a basket floating on the Nile. A fearful mother sings a song of protection. And a brave big sister seeks a chance to save her brother.
