I liked this book for a few main reasons. I like this book because of its humorous story and well created illustrations. The Story is about a Elephant and a Mouse attempting to play on a seesaw, as they discover that the Mouse is far smaller than the Elephant many other animals are added to the seesaw to try and even out the weight. A humorous plot seeing as many children will know there is a large gap in weight range between these two animals, also as each animal adds to the seesaw the images add humor. The illustrations themselves are simple with no back ground, clearly display all the characters and secondary animals, while still allowing the reader to create a mental image of the story. The use of language was also easily accessible show more yet still challenged reader comprehension. The author used alliteration in one sections saying,"the Ostrich grunted, groaned and grimaced." Such use of alliteration i believe will allow the reader to create meaning from the words even if the term is new vocabulary. Alliteration is also an strong use of language that i find to be accessible for readers of all ages. show less
Very simple story. Elephant and mouse want to teeter totter, but need a little help to even things out. Other animals pitch in and eventually things balance out. I didn't buy this one until my son was 6, it's probably better suited for a younger child, but he still loved the pictures.
Elephant gets on a teeter totter. Other animals get on to see how many it will take to even it out. Art is nice. Great primary read aloud.
a fun book about animals trying to make a see-saw work. a large elephant is on one side and all the animals go on the other side and it takes every animal to make the see-saw work

When an elephant and a mouse try to play on a seesaw, they need help from a vast number of animal friends to balance the scales.
