This book is about a little boy named Jamie who is upset his parents are leaving him with a babysitter to go to a party. Most children can relate to this problem! Jamie asks his mom to help him get ready for bed and tuck him in before she leaves. He hurries through his routine, all the while asking his mom lots of questions to try to make her stay. "Will you love me even if I spill my milk on your party dress?" Jamie asks. "What if I did it on purpose? What if you told me to go to bed and I didn't?" Jamie continues, question after question, imagining different scenarios. His mom reassures him patiently over and over again that she would still love him even if he did any of these things. Jamie gets into bed and finally is giving up, "Mama, I don't want you to go to the party, but I still love you." Although this book did not have anything particularly spectacular as far as the plot or illustrations, it was still a heart-warming story about a very relatable feeling for young children who does not want their parents to leave. This is a sweet, feel-good book that I would recommend to be read to younger kids. ( ) This book, "Even If I Spill My Milk?" by Anna Grossnickle Hines, is one of my favorite children's book thus far and I would happily add this book to my classroom library. This book depicts scenarios between a mother and her son, that the mother must let her son know how much she loves him, before she leave to go to a party and he is spending the night with a babysitter. Jamie is worried about his mother's love and if she loved him even when he made mistakes. I really like this book because it can teach readers two great lessons: a parents love is unconditional and that it is okay to make mistakes. As humans, we learn from our mistakes and they only make us stronger. One of my favorites. This book would be great in a classroom or if I were to read it to my toddler nephew at home. Showing children no one is perfect and they are loved are some of the most important things adults can teach them! I actually read this to my mom after I broke the pipe in my bath tub. This adorable picture book chronicles the night a mother decides to go out and her son would not allow her to leave without her questioning her about the love she had for him. It is such a great reminder for both children and adults that we love one another unconditionally. no reviews | add a review
