Never have I read a book where the author was so utterly horrible at making the fictional world believable. I love fantasy and supernatural fiction, but the world you create has to make sense with the rules that are in place. This series so far seems as if the author just sort of made things up as she went with no consideration for things she had already written or was going to write. For instance, in the first book Jack tries to kill himself constantly, such as jumping in front of a taxi, because vampires can't die NO MATTER WHAT (at least that's what the author said at the time). However, throughout the series vampires get hurt all the time, and take a normal amount of time to heal with bruises, cuts, broken bones, etc. So... how does show more Jack jump in front of a cab, and then walk into a club 5 minutes later? Yeah, no. Plus, the first book said the vampires can ONLY die from silver blood attacks, but as the series goes on, they can also die from heavenly swords and Schuyler almost killed Dylan with her mind powers. Come on De la Cruz, stick to your story world's rules.

Things aren't really looking up for Schuyler much in the book - Charles Force now has custody of her and she lives with the Force family, including Mimi and Jack of course. After saving Mimi in Italy, Mimi still treats Schuyler like crap and Jack is now ignoring her ... or so we think. Oh, and the Silver Bloods are starting to show their ugly faces now. Could it get any worse? By the end of the book, there's one answer: yes, it could get worse. And it does.
Even though I love the Blue Bloods series, I had a very hot-cold relationship with this book. There's not much that goes on. Schuyler is treated like crap a lot and you really feel bad for her - but, then she'll go and do something stupid and you'll be mad at her ... until something show more happens to her again. Mimi is the same as always, but she's good at being bad, which is something you have to give her credit for. Oliver, on top of being in love with Schuyler, is now also her consort. Honestly, you have to feel sorry for him. He's desperately in love with her and goes out of his way to do anything for her that she may possibly need ... yet, he's left in the dark about a lot of things and his love is obviously unrequited. Jack is hot and cold. Yet, like any boy that's bad for you, you find yourself making excuses for him just as much as Schuyler does! I have to say I think my favorite character in this series so far is Bliss, as well as feeling for her. She's got a lot going on and she has to endure it all on her own.
Plot-wise, the story didn't do much. Besides trying to figure out a solution for the Silver Bloods, there's just more fancy parties, eating, spending money, etc. Honestly, to feel threatened ... the Blue Bloods are surely not doing much about it. However, like every Blue Bloods novel, the story picks up at the end. The last 50 pages or so will have you on the edge of your seat and what happens at the end will have you dumb-struck.
In all, it's a fast little read that messes with your emotions a little too much for my liking. However, like everything that's bad for you, I always end up coming back for more. Blue Bloods is definitely a guilty pleasure for me. show less

This is the third book in the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz. I thought this one was the best of the series; I would give it 4.5 stars if I could!
In this book things are coming to a head. The Silver Bloods are evidently somehow infiltrated into some of the prestigious Blue Bloods families but no one knows who or where. With Lawrence running the council things are changing at Duchesne school. The students are now learning more about how to defend themselves. Things are getting worse for Bliss; who instead of just having blackouts is now plagued by horrible visions while awake too. Something is wrong in South America and Lawrence is called away to deal with it. Schuyler spends time in misery when she is adopted by Charles Force; show more she also spends a lot of time in this book trying to reconcile her relationships with Oliver and Jack. Mimi spends most of her time planning her bonding with Jack; when she isn't making Schuyler miserable.
This book had a much faster pace then the second one. The plot line twisted again and again; which I actually thought was well done and enjoyed. I thought this book, more than any of the previous ones, really kept you on your toes mentally and kept you second-guessing yourself. I thought this book really set the stage nicely and made the series into something bigger than high school girls that are super pretty and happen to be vampires.
There are, of course, the prerequisite modeling scenes. I actually enjoy reading about these so they don't detract from the story for me. The amount of time Schuyler spent whining about whether or not she loves Oliver or Jack got seriously annoying; but as the plot moved along she didn't have time to dwell on this forever.
As I said, I thought this was the best book of the series. I liked how complicated the plot got at the end and how dire circumstances end up. I think the story was well tied up, but leaves you wondering what will happen in the bigger picture. I loved that there was a lot more action in this book too! This book finally made me really excited about this series :-) show less

Chi i cattivi?

The mystery behind the Silver Bloods is finally solved. Many loose ends from the first two books are resolved, but the threat still remains following a dramatic twist of events that ends in discovery and tragedy. The mystery is not so much solved as revealed leaving plenty of room for the next books to work with.
Schuyler continues to develop thoughout the story. She is not a perfect person and faces many tough choices, sometimes she chooses correctly and sometimes not, making her very real. Oliver continues to be Schuyler's best friend and guides her the best he is able. He is one of the few characters that I cannot seem to relate to. He is too perfectly accomodating to Schuyler, doing whatever he can for her.
Many other young Blue show more Bloods come into their own, and we learn their histories and purposes in this life. Their personalities fill out and so much is revealed, I don't even know how to describe it. This is the book I enjoyed the most of the series so far, and I will be continuing the series soon.

This series is getting progressively better. With each book the characters are getting deeper, more fleshed out and more developed. Plus, the story is getting more complex.
