My favorite class in my entire college education was Anthro 160 with Professor Dundes. His class, and this book, really made me aware of all the non-sensical things in our culture that we blithely accept as normal just because they seem to ahve always been there. Want to know why "lightning never strikes twice", whether the Brothers Grimm had a bad relationship with their mother, and where a fool's errand came from? Prof Dundes is your man. I was so saddened to hear of his sudden death earlier this year.
