As a child i loved this book; as an adult i can see why.
2 boys and 2 girls (all siblings) are poorly from living in the polluted capital city and so take a holiday on their relatives farm. They soon forget they are poorly as they fall in love with ways of the farm and its surrounding areas.
As they explore the countryside, they find a man of the woods who sleeps in a simple shelter.
He is the main interest that stops the book becoming boring.
Much better than the sequel (which is also good).
My grandmother read this to me when I was sick many years ago.
She read so beautifully that I was smitten. Wonderful stories.
