Good source material establishing context in Griffin's Black Like Me. Editorials reach deep into the warped psyche of Southern racist groupthink. The man was compelled to poke the bear, almost against his will. "Cometh the time, cometh the writer."
The book Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin mentions P. D. East and this book. That was enough for me. I knew I had to read it. I found the part about East's childhood very interesting. When he began to editorialize, I lost interest.
