In this book, Clifford hears about a monster and becomes very scared of it. The monster turns out to be a scarecrow that is not scary at all. I would ask students to write about something that they were once afraid of that turned out not to be scary. I would also have the students draw a picture of what they thought the monster would be before we finished the story. I would use this as a way for them to start making predictions. ( )

cute book. A great book for younger grades. THis book is about people not telling the truth. This is an important issue in school setting and is important to teach students about this issues. You could have students share stories of people not telling the truth.

Great for grades k-3. Story about not believing everything you hear. We can have the students write a story about things that people have told them, that turned out not to be true.
