I've always loved Green Lantern, even with that fairly recent movie. And then, every time I saw the Blackest Night comics in the bookstores, I kept thinking to myself, "Hey, that looks AWESOME."

It's time to buckle down, do my research, hunt all the comics leading to and through that huge story arc. There's enough fans out there that it looks like it'll be well worth my time. On to my New New-Year's Resolution! BLACKEST NIGHT. Wooooooo!

Origin. Check. Hints of the Black Light? Check. Sinestro? Cool. Check. I'm primed. :) Thank you, Secret Origin. ( )

A great introduction to a character I previously had no interest in. Johns won me over on Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. ( )

Read a number of these graphic novels dealing with the Green Lantern all at once. It turns out, I am extremely ambivalent towards the Green Lantern. The stories about the Green Lantern just feel like a bits and pieces of other super hero stories combined with some attempt to make emotion the center of everything. Didn't hate it, just didn't love.

Artwork pretty good, just the stories not very memorable or interesting. ( )

This was a really well though out introduction to Hal Jordan. As a novice to Green Lantern, this storyline helped me get into the meat of what exactly is going on. ( )

Great retelling of Green Lantern's origin story. Nice art by Ivan Reis, and once again Geoff Johns comes through as one of the best writers DC has working these days.
