Pretty shallow and unrevealing, but considering how early in her life she did this, I let that slide. There is enough retelling of excess and dysfunction to pander to my baser curiousities that I read this ... once
Little Girl Lost is a deep look into addiction by way of Drew Barrymore’s own experience with it. The book tells of Drew’s struggles with her family, sense of self and her use of drugs & alcohol making it a hard to put down book, due to wanting to hear more about her struggles. With a few odd sentences, Little Girl Lost is still a good book to read, especially for any fan of the actress.
Drew Barrymore became addicted to booze and drugs by the age of thirteen. She longed for a normal relationship with her famous father, John Barrymore, who was drunk and abusive most of the time she saw him. A look at her career and how she made peace with herself.
Not great writing, but consider that she was 14 years old when it was published.
I sortof miss our Very Bad Book Club.
