This book focuses on the science of eating healthy. The main character hates vegetables and assumes that her duck would naturally share that same feeling. But as time goes on, her little duck begins to lose his health because of all the junk food he is eating. When Peggy asks the neighbor about this, he explains how eating nutritious food is what fuels your body. He tells Peggy that eating vegetables will make her body healthy as well as her ducks body. With this new information, Peggy decides that she shouldn't be picky about her food anymore. Together, Peggy and her duck begin eating healthy food and witness how much better their bodies feel when they make good eating choices.

I thought this book was a good way to introduce the science of healthy eating to students who may or may not like their vegetables. ( )

Picky Peggy is about a girl who not only refuses to eat a variety of food but prides herself on being a picky eater. Her pet duckling Fluff is also picky and prefers to eat bread crumbs. Peggy understands and is sympathetic towards Fluff so she feeds him nothing else. It isn't until she compares Fluff with the other ducklings that she begins to realize the importance of a balanced diet. ( )
