Laced with gentle humor and warm stories, it succeeds in showing that Harwell was a fine man. It lacks in showing any real struggle in his life, and that is why I can't give it Five Stars. Still, for fans of the late Ernie Harwell, it's a way of spending a few hours with an old friend. no reviews | add a review
When the Tigers roar, only Ernie Harwell's smooth southern voice can be heard above the din. After 42 years as the Voice of the Detroit Tigers, Harwell will retire once the 2002 season ends. The only play-by-play broadcaster to cover games in seven decades, Harwell has seen (and has a story about) everyone from Babe Ruth to Ichiro Suzuki. No library descriptions found. |

All in all it was a good baseball book, making Mr. Harwell out to be a saint of a person, which he very well could be. I just thought the book could have been done better. ( )
