This is the best "book of days" I've ever read, and I've read many over the years. Nepo is a poet, which makes his ability to turn a phrase magical. He's a philosopher, which makes the reader ponder deeply. And yet, the book isn't all heavy thinking. It makes me smile many mornings. A true pleasure to start my day with awakening.
This is a book of short readings for each day of the year. At the beginning of each reading was a short quote. At the end of each reading there is a meditation. Perhaps 50% of these readings were very meaningful and helpful to me. I did a few of the meditations and those were excellent. My purpose for reading was to get my day started with a thought about being in the present. The book was very good for that.

I bookmarked quite a few readings that I want to go back to and do the meditation at a different time of day when I have longer to do it.
One of my three "dailies" in 2015, this was another good companion for a wild and challenging year. Helpful perspectives. Sly stories. Some days felt a little sentimental or forced, but that may have been my mood at any given time. Recommended for the wisdom that you will catch as you live with the book (or the wisdom that will catch you).

I have finally spent exactly one year with this book – a meditational guide on spirituality, gentleness, and love for daily life. It brought peace to my evenings when I read the day's passage, and I am already excited to read it again for the next year. A great gift for anyone who is looking to open their heart.
These daily lessons have been good reminders to feed my soul and keep me grounded in finding happiness. At times it is a bit too trusting in God for me, but it’s much more spiritual than religious. I plan to visit it daily for years to come since and maybe even try the daily meditations at some point.
This is a book of daily meditation prompts and wisdom. I initially borrowed it from the library, but quickly realized I wanted to own it.
