Death Takes A Holiday: A Comedy in Three Acts: based on a play of the same title by Alberto Casella

An English translation of the classic play in which Death, desiring to learn more of humans and their tenacious grasp of life, takes human form for a brief time, and falls in love with one of those soon to join his domain. Fascinating and adept at exploring the aspects of the premise, if a bit ponderous at times.

Nel 1921 debutta come autore teatrale con Vautrin, a cui segue qualche anno dopo Prometeo. Tuttavia il suo successo più grande è rappresentato dall'opera La morte in vacanza del 1924,[2] che ottiene un grande successo di pubblico e critica, e che negli anni seguenti sarà d'ispirazione per il film omonimo del 1934[3], per il film per la televisione Death Takes a Holiday del 1971[4] e per il film Vi presento Joe Black del 1998[5].
Casella fu anche sceneggiatore per il cinema, in film come Romanzo di un giovane povero (1942), Mater dolorosa (1943), La Fornarina (1944), La carne e l'anima (1945) e per la televisione in Le avventure della squadra di stoppa (1964),
