3572. Little Mother of Russia: A Biography of the Empress Marie Feodorovna (1847-1928), by Coryne Hall (read 28 Apr 2002) I confess to a weakness for royal biography, and this book, which I read because I have never read a biography of Czar Alexander III, is well worth reading. Since his wife long outlived him, this book covers the reign of Alexander III and the momentous events following. One cannot help but be repelled by the extreme extravagance of the Empress and the arrogance of her class, which in turn helps to understanding of the cruelty of the Revolution. A good book to read.
