Another great, fun outing with Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third. A story of the almost discovery of America by an unlikely band of heroes and even more unlikely villains.

If you've read all the stories that came before it you'll know what to expect, plus a few surprises.
this was another fun one. i particularly like the commentary in the epilogue, where hiccup really starts to understand his value as a different kind of hero. he explains it in concrete terms, for any of the younger readers who might have missed the point up until now.
It's time for the Berk endurance swimming race, but Hiccup and his friends find themselves captured by a ship bound for America and end up rescuing slaves, battling sea monsters, and returning to Berk just in time to save Stoick and Bertha. This is a wonderful children's series and one I enjoy even though I'm slightly above the intended reader age. The characters are quirky and the adventures outlandish and David Tennant is the fantastic narrator that brings it all to life in the audio versions.

Hiccup is a viking boy who lives on the island of Berk. He has many adventures and goes on these adventures with his two friends, Fishlegs and Camacazi. In this adventure, he was in a 3 month long swimming race. In the race, he was captured by Norbert the Nutjob and imprisoned on the ship, the American Dream 2. While captured, he freed slaves and used dragon nip to put all of the crew on the American Dream 2 asleep. He was also attacked by a Leviathorgan, a prehistoric dragon. In the end, Hiccup and his friends made it back to shore safe and sound.

This book was outstanding! It is the best book in the "How to Train Your Dragon" series that I've read so far. The part of the story with the Leviathorgan dragon was heart pounding. You never show more knew when it was going to attack the ship, and I couldn't put the book down until I found out what was going to happen. Just waiting for the swimming race to start was made me tremble in my knees. I was really surprised when Hiccup won. It made me happy because he is such a great character. I would recommend this book to everyone! show less
Hiccup and his friends are about to participate in a viking contest of endurance. It's a swimming contest - last one to shore wins. The waters are cold and inhospitable, and when Hiccup's nemesis gets them caught in an outbound current all hope seems lost. But Hiccup and company are picked up by a ship bound for America. They've survived the waters, but can they get back to Berk in time to save their parents and their tribes?

Nummer sex i serien.
