Power & Civility (The Civilizing Process, Vol. 2)
by Norbert Elias

Description
[Source : 4e de couverture] show lessTags

Smart, witty, insightful small novel, with a gentle dusting of artful post-modern hijinks - it sort of fades away at the end rather than coming to an interesting finale, but well worth reading... [Updated:] Realized, a few months later, I have literally no memory of the novel or what it was about. None. Poof.
"Why were some kings weak and others strong?... Elias widens the scope of his inquiry to examine the social, economic, and political conditions and changes in European society from the time of Charlemagne to the twentieth century."
