This is a Walt Disney adaptation of a famous Russian fairy tale known to most school children in the west as The Little Red Hen - a moralistic tale of the importance of hard work and the shame as well as consequences of laziness.
Grandma Duck plays the part of the hard working 'Red Hen' and the lazy farm animals are replaced by Huey, Louis and Dewey.
Apart from this the story remains true to the original.
