I can relate to this book because I was a dancer, however it may be difficult for a child to read if they are unfamiliar with the words. The illustrations really caught my eye in this book. I think they are very beautifully drawn with color and creativity. I would definitely keep this book in my classroom for the young dancer who would love to take a look.
This book shows the entire alphabet using different ballet terminology, items and steps. I personally really enjoyed both the concept as well as the style of the book. I thought each word used for the letters were very appropriate and consistent with ballet terminology. As a young dancer I would have loved to read this book in my free time.
As a former ballerina myself, this was one of my favorite books. It is a simple ABC learning book but the concept and illustration are beautiful. The best part about this books is that it teaches children lots of new vocabulary that is connected with ballet. Words like tutu, pointe, and reverence are great examples of this.

This ABC book includes detailed graphics accompanying the ABC's of ballet. This picture book features words commonly used in ballet class, such as dèveloppè and rèvèrence that teach readers what elements can be found in a typical ballet class. For those who don't know what these words mean, flip to the back. The glossary defines the words used from A to Z.

Details: This book was written to interest children in grades K-3.
This is one I most definitely would read to my tiny dancers at the dancing school I teach at. Maybe not my big girls but definitely the little ones. They would be so into it, I just know it. Even when I was reading, I was wondering what word would be used for the next letter. This one was very special to me. I wouldn't necessarily read it to my students in an academic classroom, but absolutely to my students at the dance studio. They would love it, just as much as me!
On your toes by Rachel Isadora will give readers a word for every letter in the alphabet. The thing is, it’s all about Ballet! This book would be really good for students who are into dancing and just beginning to learn their alphabet. I loved the illustrations in the book because it gave a picture for every ballet move or word that was representing a letter.
Rachel Isadora combines her love of ballet and reintroduces a way of learning the alphabet. The book opens up and turn page by page learning a new latter by using ballet literacy. I loved this book I think it is a different way to capture a child imagineation when learning the alphebet and feel there should be more books like this that can help students learn the alpehpet with different themes.
