Geisert, Arthur. The Ark. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1988. This book is about the traditional Bible story about Noah and the Ark. It depicts what the experience may have been like inside the boat with all the animals. The detailed black and white lined illustrations are facinating. Every page is packed with detail. The text is usually one to two sentences per page. This would be simple enough for a beginning reader in first or second grade. It reveals how hard it was to care for all the animals. The end sends a happy message of the rainbow and the promise of no more floods. Age Group: 6-8 years. ( )
