Description

Immovable object? Meet the irresistible force.

Paramedic Aaron Chase doesn't have anything against love. It just comes with a lot of responsibility, like when he had to raise his sister and brothers after their drug-addicted mom took off for good. Now that the last one is off to college, Aaron's anticipating enjoying life on his own terms. He certainly wasn't expecting Joey Miller to accidentally drop into his life.

Joey's sexy, funny and annoyingly optimistic, and his tendency to get into show more trouble keeps sending him Aaron's way. Even the fact that Joey works for the hated social work system isn't reason enough to keep him out of Aaron's bed.

Joey knows all about love. He's fallen in it ten times—he thinks. It's not that he can't tell the difference between sex and love. All that experience has to count for something, right? With Aaron it's different. Maybe because there's something to fight for.

This time Joey's fallen for good. He's not going to let number eleven get away.

Joey is totally one of my all time heroes. He just gets under my skin. When he meets a little boy with a lisp? "'Seth Nathan Thatcher.' Sef Nafan Fatcher. That was just cruel." and I cracked up.

And Aaron? Poor boy, he tried to fight it. He really did. But as they say, Resistance is Futile. Or in Aaron's own words: "Do-gooder had been left alone for awhile and fuck if he hadn't moved in."

This review isn't following my normal MO. I have no idea as to why, but I'm ready to roll with it. I think this book fucked my mind up. In all the good ways.

"You look like somebody told you they'd stopped making lube." and I am officially cracking up, big time.

or

"Princess?"
"You do get this kind of bossy, don't-fuck-with-my-tiara attitude when you're
show more pissed."

or

"Dylan and Darryl exchanged looks over Joey's head. It was just like being around Noah and Cameron. Joey needed to hang out with shorter people."

or (and this one took the bloody prize and RAN)

"... rubbing Aaron's dick from yeah to oh fuck yeah so fast Aaron thought Joey must have left it programmed to respond to him."

Yeah, I think I can safely say the giggle-snorts were only cut off by huge, genuine belly-laughs or howling mirth.

I love it when my porn makes me laugh. Too.
Need I punctualize that I am already reading book #3 in the series? I didn't think so.

I was NOT asked to read this book by anyone, I paid for it with my own money, as I do for all the books I read, all the music I listen to and the movies I watch.

There are many great books with memorable first lines and three of them have stuck in my mind years later: "Call me Ishmael.", "Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins." and "It was a bright cold day in April, the clocks were striking thirteen." Though I admit to looking up the last one to quote it correctly. Collision Course, on the other hand, has the best last line of a book I've ever read and I'm certain I'll never forget it. "Fu*ker had Joey's eyes." You just have to read the book to find out what that means.

I read this book more slowly than most. It needed the slower pace to be savored thoroughly. Joey the happy manipulator and klutz, paired with angry Aaron, the man Joey hopes will be "the one" are quite unique characters in show more my reading experience. I loved them both and enjoyed every minute of watching and feeling their relationship develop. There is lots of man-love sex in this one, but unusual for me, I didn't feel a need to skim those scenes. They were filled with emotion, character development and moved the plot forward as well as being hot! Highly recommended! show less
I don't know how this book came to be on my kindle but I thought I'd give it a try and.... I've read fanfiction better than this. The characters are one-dimensional and stereotypical. Every bit of their interaction was trite and basically followed the "rude-asshole-nice-guy" script. I couldn't make it past the second chapter. I hated this so much I'm actually angry I read any part of it. Also, the sex scene I did make it through was Tab A Slot B boring.

ETA: I see a lot of reviews complaining about how much sex there is, and I want to add that I am pro-sexathons in my stories, it just has to be good sex. That isn't what I read.
I read Collision Course at the end of a seriously crappy week and it was truly a pleasure to just loose myself in this book. The characters were compelling and the writing was tight and flowed beautifully. I can honestly say that there were no points where I drifted off to surf the net (which I often do when I am reading. Attention span=gnat) and I was throughly entertained with Joey and Aaron’s story.

This is a drama and a lengthy one at that. I am always impressed with K.A. Mitchell’s ability to write such meaty books that don’t drag. The writing always has a point and never seems to descend into mindless page filling fluff. Yay! The premise was cool and her characters were complex and likeable. I think Joey and Aaron might have show more to be one of my favorite pairings in recent memory! K.A. has also slipped in some seriously cool music, so I had a ready made sound track in my head. heh. Goldfrapp ?? Woot! I wondered at the end, was the theme in Joey’s head Strict Machine?

You might also want to read this with a fan handy as the sexual tension is off the chart. The instant and compelling attraction the boys have, that makes getting to a bed impossible, was so hot and absolutely worthy of much praise, like the Jake and Remi getting on knees scene. It wasn’t over the top, but sexy, varied and delectable.

It was so nice to see characters from one of her previous books, Diving in Deep, which I also enjoyed. I had a few sniggers at Joey and Noah and there endless navel gazing and am now jonesing for Doctor Jae Sun Kim’s story. Please!!!!

If you’re still not rushing off with credit card at the ready, perhaps the prequels over at K.A. Mitchell’s blog might convince you that this is must read material, or you can get the goodness at the Samhain site. Gorgeous summer night reading and I cannot wait for the next one.

Check out the warning below that the book comes with…
Warning: This love story may overheat readers or the devices used to read it. Explicit male/male sex scenes involving extra penetration, toys, and spanking.

4.5 Stars

So far, this is my favourite book by this author. Yes, there is A LOT of sex but, dayum, it's HOT!!! And it wasn't gratuitous...through each scene, I learned more about the characters. My only crit would be that the very serious themes within the book were perhaps too lightly glossed over.
Joey was such an adorable character, and was so easy to fall in love with. Aaron... not so much. He was a dick, and the entire relationship was on his terms, to the point where it got ridiculous. "Don't fall in love with me! Don't ask me about my feelings!" "You fell in love with me and didn't tell me! You manipulative fucker!" lol what? The last couple of chapters he redeemed himself by acting like an actual human, but the story still somehow managed to end with Joey loosing his job that Aaron hated. Because that doesn't have skeevy implications at all.

Three stars because Joey was such a joy to read about, but there was way too much sex, and Aaron could have done with a kick up the ass.

Thank you, too, Bonnie, for helping me with my look at “the system.” And the title. Phew.
First words
Eighties dance music blasted through the Yaris’s speakers as Joey Miller flew down the passing lane of I-10, dancing in his car. A quick glance at the clock on the dashboard put a little hitch in his rhythm, so he cranked t... (show all)he volume up even higher as if the vibrating beats per minute could make up for lost time.
Quotations
"Where’s your puke green car?”
“It’s seafoam pearl.”
Last words
(Click to show. Warning: May contain spoilers.)They got a beagle-pug mix from the pound. Fucker had Joey’s eyes.
