A cute book regarding friendship, difficulties of being jealous, as the author writes and illustrates about the highs and lows of friendship;
Louise is Kathy's best friend, but when Louise takes a summer vacation with her aunt and uncle, Kathy is left with troubled thoughts.

So far this is my favorite picture book. I enjoyed this book for __ reasons. The first reason I enjoyed it was the message, which was about feeling jealousy toward a friend because you are apart. I could just connect to the story and I know that many kids could too. There have been times when I felt like Kathy when she said, " Louise Jenkins was a traitor! was my worst friend." At a young age sometimes you want your best friend to feel how you feel and when they don't you feel betrayed. The second reason I liked the book was the writing. Steven Kellogg, the author, really kept focus of the story, he was well organized and kept a good pace. The story didn't get cluttered with too much detail which was great.The final reason I enjoyed show more this book was the illustrations. Steven really did a great job illustrating the characters and their adventures. If I couldn't fully read I would feel confident in understanding the story through the illustrations alone. show less
Aww.... Now this one just hits me in the warm fuzzies. I've never had a best friend; nonetheless I feel as if I can feel everything that Kathy does. She and Louise and Mr. Jode are certainly lucky to have each other.
Okay, I'm still on my little kick of reading (or rereading) Stevn Kellogg books. This story about friendship is charming, and the illustrations, as usual, are adorable.
Louise and Kathy are best friends. They do everything together. But, when Louise goes away for the summer, Kathy gets jealous. She spends her summer planning ways to make Louise jealous. Loiuse meets a new neighbor, Mr. Jode, whose dog is having puppies. Kathy claims the first spotted one. When Mr. Jode's dog, Sarah, has puppies, Louise and Kathy run to see them, but Sarah only has one brown puppy. In the end, Kathy overcomes her jealousy in order to save her friendship and share the puppy with Louise.
Two girls are best friends and do everything together. They play on their pretend horse in their pretend neighborhood, they sit together at school, and share their chocolate milk at lunch. When summer came, one of them went to the mountains with her aunt and uncle and the one stuck at home was really sad. Then her new neighbor, an old man, moved in and told her his dog was about to have puppies. Then her best friend came back and both of their mom got them puppies! But the dog only had one puppy, so the old man built a dog house in the middle of their two houses and the two girls shared the puppy!
