A sumptuous and beautifully illustrated biography of the life and art of Winsor McCay, a pioneer in animation (Gertie the Dinosaur) and the comic strip (Little Nemo In Slumberland, among others). A beautiful book about an influential creator in two mediums. I respect McCay's work and influence, and Little Nemo in Slumberland is deserving of its reputation as one of the most beautiful strips ever drawn, but I've always found the inattention to lettering and dialogue a little trying.
