I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a multicultural book which the main character was a little Latino girl named Maria. The setting was El Salvador during war time when times were hard. The time was the 1980's. Maria went to the market with her father and a boy named Paco wanted her blue teddy bear really bad and Maria sold it to help her family.
I feel that it really showed the family values that Maria showed.
A charming story for children about family relationships and love.

NOTE: The author's father is from El Salvador, where the story is set.
