Muriel Jensen was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. After high school, she worked for Pacific Telephone before joining the secretarial pool at the Los Angeles Times while taking a correspondence course in fiction writing. She wrote her first novel, Winter's Bounty, while managing a bookstore. It was published in 1984.
