Triste, solitario y final

Un vero giornalista e un detective di carta, sulle tracce del ciccione e del magrolino, con abbondante condimento di scazzottate cinematografiche, cattivi da film western e Charlie Chaplin troppo immedesimato nel grande dittatore.
Alla fine solo la morte di un gatto riporterà tutti con i piedi per terra.
Un bellissimo libro sulla fine dei miti che hanno accompagnato la nostra adolescenza.

First and foremost: why 4*, for such a short book?

Well, mainly because it could have been more if it had had not that "Grisham syndrome"- i.e. the last third is a quest for an ending

I picked up the book during my usual first Sunday of the month run for use books at the open air market in the centre of Turin (this time it seems that nobody except one bothered to be there)

Along with other books, I looked for books outside my usual fields to exercise my language skills, and this one attracted me because I first read the back cover (curious a book about Stan Laurel and Olivery Hardy), then saw the title and cover and author

I did a quick preview and it was interesting- that the author was a member of the cast of characters, along with an show more investigator and Laurel Hardy and countless other famous actors in the 1950s-1960s added to my curiosity

A short book that I read yesterday and today while standing in line, waiting, or just today... as my lunch break after shuttling around emails

More than once extracted a laugh, albeit the author sometimes let's say that is not exactly in line with my views (but I do not know if those were his ideas about society and its members, or just for the sake of narrative)

Anyway, entertaining and a quick read (180 pages read only in "idle time" means that it was a page-turner) show less

a me è sembrata la sceneggiatura di un film alla "jean claude van dam" o alla "steven seagal"! tutto cazzotti e sparatorie, con trama inesistente e sconclusionata.
Marlowe, Stanlio e Ollio, Charlot, John Wayne non c'entrano assolutamente niente, sono solo nomi citati non so bene perché (tanto per fare scena). L'idea di un Stan Laurel che prima di morire cerca l'aiuto di un detective poteva essere sfruttata molto ma molto meglio, anzi POTEVA ESSERE SFRUTTATA e basta (in questo libro non è stata sfruttata affatto!)

microscopica noticina positiva: c'e' qualche battutina carina alla "arma letale" che mi ha strappato un sorriso

nota negativa: m'ha rubato molto più tempo dei 90 minuti di quei film che ho detto sopra (e che se posso show more evito!) show less
