This book contains 31 days of devotionals with thoughts on the blessed life of fellowship the the Son of God. Many Christians go to church each week burdened by guilt and shame, believing they are unworthy of God’s full love. In Abide in Christ, Andrew Murray reminds every Christian that God promises His constant presence with them. Towards the close of his ministry on earth, Jesus taught his disciples of the need for them to abide in Him. This word "abide" speaks of the intimacy of fellowship with the Master to which his followers are still invited. Andrew Murray wrote this series of meditations, which he subtitled "Thoughts on the Blessed Life of Fellowship with the Son of God", out of a conviction that many believers are missing out on something that is really at the heart of a healthy Christian life. The author explains that many, although they trust the Lord for forgiveness and help, have yet to experience the blessing of a day by day and hour by hour walk with the Lord, and therefore are not enjoying the power, the joy and the fruitfulness that is available to each one. He shows how, by taking the time to live closer to Jesus, we may move into a deeper and stronger Christian experience. Definitely encouraged me in so many ways, and I love Murray's writing style. It kept me engaged and interested at all times, and I liked the short sections that made for easy reading. This book is so deep, so the short sections were definitely necessary. I would highly recommend this for any Christian wanting to grow closer to Christ! Superb month of devotions (although I spent more than a month reading it). I went through a second time underlining, and a third summarizing it. In the Preface A.M. explains how during the life of Jesus on earth His word to his followers changed from 'follow me' to 'abide in me'. The later speaks of an intimacy of fellowship beyond trusting in His atonement and forgiveness. "Do not expectto abide in Him unless you give yourself time to grow into Jesus the vine ... Every workman claims his hour for food ... If we are to live through Jesus, we must feed on Him (John vi. 57)." Who would go on an infusion drip to have more time to devote themselves to their career? These devotions encourage Christians not to live possessing such a mindset with respect to Christ. no reviews | add a review
So many Christians, instead of accepting God's invitation to enter His throne room, stand alone outside the door, uncertain and ashamed. Christ beckons them to His banqueting table and offers them a room in His house, but they foolishly give up the glory of the life He has offered. They come to Jesus as Redeemer but never go beyond the doorway to abide in Him and experience the unspeakable joy of dwelling with the King of Kings. Andrew Murray knew what it meant to be continually in the Father's presence. Read these thirty-one heart-searching readings and learn how to live daily in closer communion and fellowship with Him. Accept God's invitation and live in His blessing and glory instead of shuffling your feet at the gate. No library descriptions found.
