2130 The Real Bluebeard, by Jean Benedetti (read 20 Feb 1988) Gilles de Rais was born in 1404 and executed 26 Oct 1440. He was a right hand to St, Joan of Arc, but beginning in 1433 began killing children, after doing evil with them. I don't know how accurate this book is, but it purports to be based on actual records though it lacks footnotes, etc. I did not like the book--it says St. Joan was probably a witch. Honestly! It is kind of a pulp book, and was not worth reading. ( )
